Piece is good. Headline should say “claim” instead of “see.” www.nytimes.com/2026/04/30/u...
A recent study to be published in @thejop.bsky.social... concluded that there is “significant and robust evidence” that the racial turnout gap widened in parts of the country that had been covered by the VRA after [Shelby], “translating to hundreds of thousands of uncast ballots by voters of color.”
What happened after conservative justices first shivved the Voting Rights Act? The turnout gap between Blacks and whites grew. That “translated to hundreds of thousands of uncast ballots by voters of color.” www.nytimes.com/2026/04/30/u...

This @nytimes.com headline, even for a news analysis piece, is ... something. Like, WTF kind of framing is this horseshit? What editor(s) approved the phrase "progress on racism" in a headline about the ultra-conservative Roberts court's decision to gut the VRA?

The reality is racism still exists and the US Supreme Court is enabling it. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/30/u...

The framing of this @nytimes.com analysis is just awful: In Narrowing Voting Rights Act, Conservative Justices See Progress on Racism www.nytimes.com/2026/04/30/u...
"the turnout gap between Black and white voters in those jurisdictions grew by nine percentage points between 2012 and 2022." The gap had closed BECAUSE of the Voting Rights Act. Prior decisions limiting the Act have already had a negative effect.

The statement is ridiculous and fanciful on its face, but I wonder who Alito thinks he's talking to? He can't be worried about his posterity, that ship has already sailed. Maybe he's feeling a little guilty, though I doubt that. Maybe he wants to be respectable? It's a bit late for that.
This is a good headline because accurate: they are making progress in covering our nation in racism again. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/30/u...

What koolaid are they drinking? Far from it. And that is why we have KKK members disguised as conservative Republicans. Gerrymandering is a manipulation of the vote and should be criminalized. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/30/u...

Conservatives have long claimed that adverse rulings were made by “activist judges”. Unelected judges deciding that we don’t need a law that was passed by Congress 60+ years ago seems pretty activist. Conservative Justices See Progress on Racism www.nytimes.com/2026/04/30/u...
