NYT “news analysis” argues that Trump’s crazy bullshit should be taken seriously by world leaders. Could not be more enabling, or more wrong. What the hell, @jimtankersley.bsky.social? www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Oh, come on, @nytimes.com. Who cares if Nazi 🇺🇸USA withdraws troops from Germany? You and your benighted country are on your own now. Smiles aside, nobody wants you. 🤷🏼🙄🤷🏼 www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Today in Times stupidity: Trump rashly pulls troops from Germany. Germany shrugs, NATO defends Germany, and several GOP senators criticize the move. The Times: German messed around and found out. As if Trump is rational or acts rationally! So annoying. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Merz did almost everything wrong. Germany did NOT quietly set & enforce boundaries but allowed the U.S. to use its bases for the war. What Merz DID do was to publicly say that Trump was being “humiliated” by Iran; an unforgivable slight to any narcissist. Merz spoke harshly & carried no stick.
"Ohne Bezahlschranke"!? www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
“The net result, if those plans are followed, will be a return to the level of U.S. troops based in Germany before the war in Ukraine began.“ …so more pullback on Ukraine but still a lot of troops? Also if the headline is a guide - Germany shouldn’t dress so provocatively? 🇩🇪🇺🇸🇺🇦🇪🇺🎁
Merz hat sich wieder mal verplappert. Weiterer Schritt zum Abschied. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
@nytimes.com laying the blame on troop withdrawals from Germany on Merz and not the sniveling cry baby is top level bullshit. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
How Germany May Have Misjudged Trump’s Anger on Iran www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w... This is what we call blaming the victim. The Times should be ashamed for its framing of the situation. It's everyone else's fault for angering the abuser.
Germany allowed America to help launch attacks on Iran from bases in Germany. It allows injured Americans to be treated in a US hospital on German soil. But Germany’s nonchalance about the possibility of a US troop withdrawal may have been a miscalculation. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
shut the fuck up stop trying to pretend like this is a guy with predicable behavior unless it's enriching himself

Peculiar choice of words. Many people would say the US is miscalculating the long-term impact of their actions on their allies. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
There is nothing in this article that backs up the clickbait headline. Nothing. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Such a funny and lede; (a) it presumes that Trump’s weekend social media bluffing will come true and (b) even if it does the story shows that Germany judged Trump completely correctly. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Until that announcement, the consensus view in German politics appeared to be that #Trump was most likely bluffing. He had tried, and failed, to remove some of America’s 35,000 troops from #Germany at the end of his first term in office. #NATO www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Do we now assume that it is wise to live in fear of Trump’s anger? We think it was a “misjudgment“ for Merz to be a grown-up? Trump was going to pull the troops no matter what. You act with dignity and credibility, the tyrant does whatever. That’s not misjudgment. Germany will survive.
The framing seems wrong. He lashes out, regardless. Playing nice gets you nowhere - same page tariffs on European cars to rise. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
@maks23.bsky.social @insideukraine.bsky.social 👁️ 👁️ Hey Germany wake the fuck up! He did it because Putin told him to. You think Putin just wants to take over Ukraine, no he wants to take over ALL of Europe. Why do you think he bombs other countries like Poland? www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Germany should not care. Can't control that Trump & USA are insane & ridiculous. Get the bases out. How Germany May Have Misjudged Trump’s Anger on Iran www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...

How Germany May Have Misjudged Trump’s Anger on Iran www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w... On Monday, Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany told German high school students that the United States had “no strategy” to end the war and that Iran’s negotiators had “humiliated” the entire American nation.
This one should be posted as an opinion. It is certainly not an analysis @nytimes.com www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Maybe, or maybe it says to Germans that the current German military buildup is justified. Maybe it says Germany is correct in going back to its Cold War footing, which would have included both East and West Germany.
www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w... Seriously, NY Times? How about "Germany Tires of Dealing with Infant President?"
Sick of the MSM and the misleading headlines. Germany didn't cave to threats from the narcissistic bully and an action (withdrawal of troops), which has been in the works for months, has been accelerated. #SpinelessJournalism
No, Germany hasn’t misjudged at all. It & other EU nations deliberately changing strategy, woken up to fact that placating unpredictable Trump gets them nowhere. He seems all out against ex-allies, all in with Russia. EU has no choice but push back, reduce reliance. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Misjudged ? Maybe after 80+ years it’s time to get a now unreliable occupier out ? www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
The @nytimes.com position in this story is that trump is a big man-child that needs to be treated by other world leaders like a big cry-baby. Their headline is not exactly the flex they think it is. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
Disgusting victim-blaming. *Germany* is at fault for not anticipating the tantrum-fuelled whims of a senile sociopath? @nytimes.com should be ashamed of itself. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/02/w...
NY Times. You can do better than to reason that Mertz misjudged the situation. He set the table, and Trump took the bait. He knows America won’t intervene if Russia attacks. He’s rewriting the European military defense doctrine.
