it's this kind of sharpness and insight into character that really makes me confident the United States has always had the best people at the top. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
The rag that savaged Platner over largely debunked claims—see my receipt-laden reports on Bluesky and Substack—just dumped a grotesque apologia for an Epstein pal. Why? Because she’s rich. It omits her years of work with those trying to steal US elections.
I left Big Law b/c being “promoted” to a partner was walking into a garage and getting shot in the back of the head. That said, it is an insult to every partner I worked with to say: somebody had to represent Jeffrey Epstein and that was just how the game was played, www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o....
Fascinating story. It fails in its attempt to rehab Ruemmler's reputation, neglects how she actively advised Epstein legally, & purports to be an indictment of BigLaw while shrugging at the industry's activities & insisting that no individual be held responsible for them.
I don't know if this conclusion really follows. Social sanction is one way of developing guardrails within elite institutions against enabling behavior like Epstein's www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
The NYT let her off far too easy. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Gift Link: How Did Kathy Ruemmler Get Tangled Up with Epstein? Among their emails were elliptical messages about “girls” (“careful i will renew an old habit,” he wrote), & sharp criticisms of lawyers representing Epstein’s accusers (“Victim’s rights, my ass”). www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o... #PINKS
I would simply not associate with this guy. Lots of things you can do as a lawyer that aren’t this. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Opinion: Why Was A Top Obama Lawyer Tangled Up with Epstein? www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o... 😱WTF NYT? As a whistleblower, this reputation-laundering cosplaying as journalism is ENRAGING! She/GoldmanSachs ABSOLUTELY KNEW—they didn’t care & were complicit for profit! “Victims rights, my ass” indeed
I love it when The Times publishes my comments: She Was One of Obama’s Top Lawyers. How Did She Get Tangled Up With Epstein? www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Long way to say she wanted the free stuff. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
There is value in this apologia for Kathy Ruemmler. It blurs the odiousness of her friendship with Epstein. But it contextualizes the relationship as typical of the money- and status-grabbing amorality of Big Law, where partners check their principles at the door. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
This was written by a DOJ prosecutor (white collar crime) and is whitewashing Ruemmler’s stained reputation. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
of course the nyt published this abhorrent piece smoothing over the decades of hard work ruemmler did to protect and abet epstein www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Ruemmler didn't think Alan Dershowitz would represent a client if he was really guilty. One of many jaw dropping lines in this story. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
“Ms. Ruemmler has been criticized by politicians and commentators for consorting with Mr. Epstein, but outside of the media spotlight (and off the record), most white-collar lawyers I know have been unwilling to condemn her.“ Khardori sugarcoats Ruemmler’s cover up of Epstein’s abuse of minors

This is more than a bit facile. Being at a large law firm does not ineluctably make one morally obtuse. That is a choice.
They stick together 🤬 How Epstein got away with it for so long and how those that participated continue to evade justice 🎁 www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
A gross, twisted person. #katherineruemmler She Was One of Obama’s Top Lawyers. How Did She Get Tangled Up With Epstein? www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
She Was One of Obama’s Top Lawyers. How Did She Get Tangled Up With Epstein? “I didn’t know! I was only following orders!” 🤮 www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
"...doing business with Mr. Epstein, and people like him, was business as usual for the top ranks of the legal profession. It most likely remains so to this day." www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
“The unsettling truth that emerges…She looked past his 2008 conviction — for procuring a minor for prostitution… — in the pursuit of business…and that tells you everything you need to know about how unreliable and corroded the legal world has become.” www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...

www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o.... “She looked past his 2008 conviction, for procuring a minor for prostitution and solicitation of prostitution, in the pursuit of business, and that tells you everything you need to know about how unreliable and corroded the legal world has become.” Moral flexibility
“She looked past his ’08 conviction …in the pursuit of business. Many other prominent criminal defense lawyers… would have made the same decision, and that tells you everything you need to know about how unreliable and corroded the legal world has become.” www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Ruemmler did not believe that a person like Alan Dershowitz "wouldn’t have chosen to work for someone [he and Ken Starr] knew had committed the crimes Mr. Epstein was accused of". Excuse me? www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
What in gods name is this apologia for fundamental moral failure doing on the NY Times op-ed page? www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Apparently, she’s never heard of “ghosting”. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Gift link. The author bemoans the state of the legal profession‘s in$ider ba$eball, yet launders a horrendous fellow lawyer’s complicity, hence, being the exact problem he “seeks” to change. And what image consultant told her to dress like a Mormon wife? 🤮 www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
The "Epstein file" was exposed thanks to a journalist, Miami Herald Julie K. Brown who saved the profession's honour. But what was the legal profession's responsibility? This article "tells you everything you need to know about how corroded the legal world has become" www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...

Questionable decision by @nytopinion.nytimes.com to allow an infrequent contributor to write this feathered fish (not quite a profile, not quite an opinion piece) www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...

So the core argument here is: How can you judge Kathy Ruemmler by normal moral qualms when of course her industry has none?! Which is a kind of realism I guess. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...

“I would not have been very effective in my job if I took the position that I would not meet with people who had been convicted of crimes or accused of crimes,” she said. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
Fascinating, disturbing, and so much more. We must stay on message: release all the files. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...

In their first meetings, you could see the forces that shape elite law firms. This is a world that trades on personal connections — referrals, recommendations and friends vouching for friends and associates.
Gifting. This will be how people like Ruemmler try to rehab themselves post Trump/Epstein. It will be the “context” of them doing their jobs and not seeing the big picture. My time in She Was One of Obama’s Top Lawyers. How Did She Get Tangled Up With Epstein? www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...
