Historian Kim Phillips-Fein on the inegalitarian tradition in the United States. Worth noting Alexander Stephens's famous "cornerstone" speech, contending that the Confederacy was based on a repudiation of the idea that all men are created equal. www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o...

www.nytimes.com/2026/06/11/o... Are all people strictly equal in ability, opportunity, and luck? No! But the wealthy and their apologists believe that justifies their greed. It’s also a skewed assumption of what we ought to value in humanity. Inequality is NOT inevitable or good!
