“You were convicted because the warning lights were flashing brighter and brighter and you didn’t get him help and you didn’t remove his access to the guns." Same can be said for society as a whole. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...

I don’t think that I will see the day when the U.S., like civilized countries elsewhere, will take care of their citizens by introducing gun control www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...
This is helpful, but even better would be mandatory liability insurance. If your gun harms or kills someone, they or their survivors should be able to sue the pants off your insurance company. Actuaries will ensure that unhinged people don't have access to guns.
“Giving him an AR-15-style rifle as a Christmas gift was, in his telling, a misguided attempt to connect with his son and pull him away from the internet and video games.” Those video games are dangerous so I gave him an AR-15… gift article www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...

Rare case of accountability for the man who decided to give his disturbed teenager a weapon designed to create mass casualties. The guns are the problem. But so is this guy. 🎁 Gift article
15 years is way too little for this dude ... and no juvenile should be allowed to possess a firearm, period. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...
The father of a teenager who fatally shot four people at his Georgia high school was sentenced on Thursday to 15 years in prison after a jury found he bore criminal responsibility for his son’s deadly attack in 2024.
I don't know the details of this case and whether justice is being done That said, this is the direction I want to be going. Hold everyone involved responsible, criminally and civilly. Make reckless gun owners and dealers un-insurable.
Accountability matters. If we can have accountability for the parents of a Georgia teen killer, we can have accountability for the Trump Administration as well. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...
Neueste Idee: Statt Waffen einzuschränken, erschießen die #USA lieber die mental hilfebedürftigen Teenager und sperren danach die Eltern in den Knast 🤯 #FUBAR
In Georgia, no less. This terrible story gives me hope that we might turn the page on 2A and the gun lobby. It’s well past time for sensible gun laws. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...

Hopefully this will help other parents wake up. '“You were convicted because the warning lights were flashing brighter and brighter and you didn’t get him help and you didn’t remove his access to the guns,” the judge said as he handed down the sentence. '"It is clear you failed as a parent."'

"His parents discussed and researched possible treatment options, but never followed through, prosecutors said. Instead, they gave him antidepressants prescribed to his mother." Makes me wonder if part of the problem was lack of adequate mental health care. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...
