I never bragged about this before and I regretted it at the time but I didn't have my parents help me w/ move in when I was a freshman and I went to a school way out of state. My mom wanted to come, I was just too cool and told her she didn't need to. But tbh I would have liked if my mommy was there

there's an old Russian novel called Oblomov, a sort of Russian version of Bartleby the Scrivener, but anyway in it is a huge debate about "German" vs "Russian" parenting and I guess I am squarely on the "German" side here in that this seems an absolutely batshit insane way to treat grown adults
