Growing up on the island that used to be West-Berlin, I have an interest in remote, isolated places. Tristan da Cunha sounds like an interesting spot to visit, but I don't think I could live there. Take a family vacation elsewhere? Next to impossible.

"Two years and several visits later, Kelly made the decision that would change her life: She moved to Tristan and became the first woman in over a century to settle there for good. The last had been three Irish sisters, in 1908." Population 270+ people.
“Only 220 people now call it home, down from a peak of 300 in 1993. In the past three years, there have been 21 deaths and only six births.”

Reading “Far, Far Away / Making a home on the world’s most remote inhabited island.”. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/w... (subs probably required).
OK, maybe I don’t need to go to the most remote populated place in the world. But I find it fascinating to read about.
