What is stunning about this piece is that that none of the pollsters and pundits offered even a caveat about election suppression and the possibility of Trump going all out to steal the election

You'll recall that the NYT has been talking with 6 experts from across the spectrum about what they expect for the midterms.
Even Patrick Ruffini is now saying he expects Dems to win the House AND the Senate!
Interesting to note, Nate Silver has Dems with 240 seats in the House 👀
Equis found that the share of Latinos reporting their social circles were mostly supporting Trump went from 19 percent in 2016 to 30 percent in 2020 to 42 percent in 2024. Now? Just 22 percent of Latinos' social circles say they are supporting the GOP.

Equis' Carlos Odio: "The share [of Hispanic voters] reporting that their social circles were mostly supporting Trump went from 19 percent in 2016 to 30 percent in 2020 to 42 percent in 2024, per our best estimates. In our latest poll, we see a reversal, almost to the level of 2016: Just 22 percent."
I, personally, am not this optimistic, but take this for what it's worth. NYT pundits predict we'll take both Senate and House. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Nate Silver predicts Dems will win the House AND Senate. So do 4 other NYT experts.
In fact, only Perry Bacon thinks Dems WON'T win the Senate and predicts a tie (the Senate would remain under GOP control.)
But all forecast a fat Democratic lead in the House.

Estimating social consensus.
In this conversation with pollsters, one of the most interesting approaches came from @carlosodio.bsky.social.
His firm asks people who the people they know are planning to vote for. In the graph, the data show Hispanic voters.

The pollsters here belive the Democrats are in great shape. However, polls don't win elections, voting does. The Democratic Party must work very hard to get out the vote or its supporters are going to be very disappointed on November 4th

Lynn Vavreck | In 1986, just 11% of Americans said the [American] dream was “not really alive.” In 2026, the number who think the American dream is not alive jumped to 43% — almost half the country thinks it’s dead.
Trump killed the American Dream.

“Now, with just about a week to go, the polling suggests an extremely favorable environment for Democrats.”
IMHO, this is an NYT OpEd worth a look. The contributors are seasoned pollsters, looking under the hood.

As we hit one week until the election, this article makes for fascinating reading. Six experts weigh in on the Democrats chance to win both House and Senate. All six believe the Democrats will easily win the House, but they aren't as optimistic about the Senate.

People, the middle terms are right now. Vote early if you can, make sure you are registered and have a plan. But, don't wait until the last minute.

Times Opinion asked six polling and politics experts to look into their crystal balls and predict who would win control of the House and the Senate.

I agree and think the Dem wave in the south in particularly, as well as in the midwest, could be even bigger than the polls indicate. www.nytimes.com/interactive/... Opinion | The Midterms Are Next Week. Here’s Who We Think Will Win.
