Susan Saint James, Emmy Winner Who Starred in ‘Kate & Allie,’ Dies at 80 (Gift Article)

Sad to see her passing. Loved Kate & Allie. Loved her work. my mom once met Mike Farrell, who was standing near a film shoot near our house one night. The movie was "How to Beat the High Cost of Living." Saint James was in it. Farrell and she were quietly dating.

“McMillan & Wife” was among my first cop shows growing up. I loved the Sunday Mystery Movie on NBC! www.nytimes.com/2026/10/27/a...

Susan Saint James died yesterday. As a tween and teen, I looooved her on Kate & Allie and later rediscovering McMillan and Wife since I slept so terribly at night. She was feisty and funny, I missed her when she retired from acting. She juat recently turned 80.

RIP. I had a bit of a crush on her when she was in McMillan & Wife.

"Kate & Allie" was a fine show with two stellar leads. It's been a long time since I've seen an episode. [GIFT ARTICLE] 🎁 Susan Saint James, Emmy Winner Who Starred in ‘Kate & Allie,’ Dies at 80 | New York Times
