AI drinks your water, eats your brain, poops out slop, and ruins everything that was good and human. And media love it. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
They way this technology is being forced into every nook and cranny of digital entities is maddening... "How, and Why, We’re Adding A.I. Tools to NYT Cooking" www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i... HT @hypervisible.blacksky.app
OK now i'm mad www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
“This new A.I. tool requires you to be on your phone, but it also enables the tactile physical pleasure of cooking, speeding up the moment when you can put that device away while you eat your very real, very human creation.” 🚮 www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
I'm not a software engineer but I don't think you need an LLM to do simple math
Some people are gonna be big mad about this but the way it’s implemented it’s entirely optional to use it. Pure “if you don’t like it, don’t use it” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...

Ok, see, what's hilarious is that given AI pulls in and analyzes all words associated with certain other words, it now becomes possible that it will list the bonkers substitutions that people post about as legit options for the recipes www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...

Because we’re in the business of kissing oligarch ass? www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
The comments section is universally negative, even commenters who work in tech and use Ai don’t like this www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
Chez Sulzberger serving up AI slop, 24-7 in NYT Cookng, bone appetitive
This NYT Cooking AI recipe tool just seems pretty pointless, though maybe if it tells people how to substitute ingredients without completely butchering the dish and then writing unhinged 1-star reviews, it would be a success.
Some people will probably really enjoy using one to adjust NYT recipes! Most people will not. And the fact you can't opt out of it, even knowing how divisive it is, hardens opposition IMO. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
Gift link, so maybe someone will actually read the article.
Here's a gift link! Reading it, it seems like it's limited to a tool to customize recipes by converting between measuring systems, scaling ingredients, and swapping ingredients. I'm also super hesitant about it but I'm glad to see it doesn't mean they're adding AI-generated slop recipes
Finally, the commenters get their wish (turning everything into the recipe of Theseus). www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...

Because we're the spineless slaves of the orthodoxy
This is…let’s say…not going over well in the comments section.
www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
Hmmm, I don’t think people should be booing this just because it’s A.I. If you cook and host and need to scale, all the math is time consuming with grocery shopping and the quantities when actually cooking… www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
A.I. has already been invading online recipes spaces for a bit, but this is a good reminder. I would advise, if you have recipes you like bookmarked, to find an app that can ingest the recipe and break it down into ingredients and instructions independent of the link.
There's no way to turn it off. Aggravating how AI is being pushed down our throats, slowly stripping us of human capabilities and creativity in all areas of our lives. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
This might be the most thoughtful explanation of AI use by a major publisher that I’ve read. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
Commenters are already rightfully incensed about this. Looks like the LLM feature will only work if you choose to apply it, and is mainly designed for subbing ingredients and scaling amounts for more/less servings. They claim it will NOT be used for writing recipes -- but yeah, super disappointing.
Now you, too, can incoherently corrupt recipes from cultures you are not a part of. Just like a real NYTimes Recipes Chef! www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
I think this is going to tarnish the reputation of NYT Cooking and I am generally a proponent of such automation > How, and Why, We’re Adding A.I. Tools to NYT Cooking www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...

It’s a substitution bot, very reasonable and smart move IMO www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...

If you actually read this, it doesn't sound like a bad thing to me, it's not what one might assume.
#NYTCooking promotes AI as a practical tool for tailoring recipes to users’ needs: dietary requirements, available ingredients, equipment, serving sizes. Critics worry that #AI modifications may blur the line between human-tested recipes & untested AI adaptations. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
WHY? BECAUSE NYT EXISTS TO SUPPORT THE OLIGARCHY AND THE PLUTOCRACY IT ENJOYS. FORCING AI UPON IS MEANT TO CREATE THE APPEARANCE OF THE PUBLIC ADOPTING IT WHEN IN FACT WE HATE IT AND FORCING IT ON US INFURIATES US BEYOND BELIEF. CHOKE ON YOUR AI, NYT. #BOYCOTTNYT www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/i...
