People are giving up everything including medicine, having kids, gym memberships, “being generous,” and their overall quality of life because they just can’t afford it anymore. All while Trump makes billions. It’s a crisis and it’s exactly the way he wants it.

I think this range of responses is really interesting: www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

‘There’s an existential crisis that comes with forgoing what you could once afford. Any ease or casualness you may have felt moving through the world? Gone. In its place is a much broader uncertainty, what I call a terra infirma: unstable ground.’ www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

A lot of these are basic necessities: medicine, car repairs, contact lenses. Like... is America great again or?? www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Really important opinion piece in the @nytimes.com "While by some measures, members of the middle class now earn more than those of prior generations, the Brookings Institution recently found that one-third of the American middle class still can’t afford essentials."

The NY Times recently asked readers “what they can no longer afford, or have given up on having”. Among the answers: medication, car repairs, new clothes, having more kids, eating out, and contact lenses.

This one hits hard. Knowing now you'll be the first generation in the history of the U.S. to go backwards. It's hard to not be bitter about this. My parents built their wealth with a stock market below 1000 points. It's above 55K now. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

The myth of the American "middle class" is dissolving into the reality of just 2 classes: the wealthy uberclass and the neo-feudal underclass. one-third of the American middle class still can’t afford essentials...for the rest, high costs...make their incomes feel paltry." Overworked, indentured.

What America Is Living Without www.nytimes.com/interactive/... When "middle class" people live without, independent businesses that would thrive also tend to experience higher rates of failure (while the Amazons and WalMarts prevail). The problem becomes larger than the focus of this article.

What America Is Living Without www.nytimes.com/interactive/... The majority of people are all living without much they used to be able to afford. All while the mob boss & his crime syndicate live “high on the hog” - on our $$ they have stolen from programs that helped our people in so many ways.

Optimism, or at the very least stability, is lost over time, over the many decisions that people have to make. These stymied small ambitions add up. Americans no longer feel as if the stories of their lives makes sense anymore. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
