Man’s subway track saunter on No. 7 line in Queens snarls commute for thousands

A man's morning constitutional stopped commutes as he strolled 4 miles of the No. 7 line this morning. My latest for the Daily News.

A subway track trespasser — identified by police as Norman Baker, 55, and likely homeless — at one point perched on the third rail and, at another, hung from the elevated structure before being taken into custody.

“The man on the tks was 1st reported…just before 5 a.m.,… “Officers with the NYPD’s ESU arrived at the scene around 6:30,… “…by 6:45 a.m., the rail walker was…“hanging from the structure” while speaking with the ESU officers” before being arrested “minutes later” www.nydailynews.com/2026/10/30/m...

#NormanBaker, 55, likely homeless, was spotted walking along #7 subway tracks in Queens. After about 2 hours, police caught up and took him into custody. No word from him why he did that. www.nydailynews.com/2026/10/30/m...
